THIS IS THE MOST POWERFUL MUSCLE IN THE HUMAN BODY

When asked what is the most powerful muscle in the human body, most people say it is the tongue. However, this popular belief has long been contradicted by science. In fact, it is an organ that is composed of seventeen different muscles and is by far the strongest.

In terms of absolute power, it is indeed the large buttock muscle that holds the record. This is a significant fact because its role is to keep us upright and to pull the thigh backwards when walking or running.

It is also the muscle that allows us to stand up when we are sitting down. The gluteus maximus is the most voluminous muscle in the human body, which gives the buttock its essential shape. In bodybuilding, it is the squat (or "squat on legs") which makes it possible to develop it.

Regarding the force exerted on an external object, it is on the other hand the "masseter muscle", used to raise the lower jaw during chewing, which develops the most power. It can exert a pressure of up to 58 kilos per square centimeter.

In comparison, the mouth of the crocodile, which holds the record in this area, can reach up to 2 tons per square centimeter.
